Alfons Eyckmans and Jack Krijnen worked early 2010 on improving the highest known level for the 18-piece burr, independently and unaware of each others activities. They came to their final results within days: the Burrly Sane designs were sent to Ishino Keiichiro before Tiros was published. That was not the only surprising coincidence: Tiros and Burrly Sane have a remarkable resemblance. The explanation must be that both were based on Alfons Eyckmans's Phoenix as starting point for further explorations.
