Re: Logo

Post by bluesign2k » April 21st, 2011, 2:55 pm

Having spoken again to Mark he's sent through another set of possible logos:

What do you think? For me it could be either of the ones in the right hand column.

There's also the header for the forum which fills the whole top area of each page (it's 1000x114 px), so I'm not sure if just having the logo would look a little lot in such a large space. The obvious answer is to separate the Ps and just have "Puzzle Place" with same fonts and wire puzzle style Ps. However, the other option that Mark mentioned was:
Mark wrote:I was wondering if you wanted me to try putting the star puzzle on the banner in full form and in broken pieces? (ie logo and name over at the left and star puzzle over on the right. And maybe change the star puzzle to look like different coloured metals to make it more vibrant? or maybe wood?) or are you just wanting the logo and name on a black background?
Comments/ideas? :)

I'd really like to see Mark's idea for the star in metal and wood. Sounds interesting!

I wouldn't want the two 'P's to be separated as I think it would lose it's appeal. I think the linked 'P's with no text is best for the logo, and then I'd like to see what mark can come up with for something a little bigger for the forum header.

I've uploaded the third logo to the wiki to see what it looks like... I'm not sure the black background fits in though so I've asked if we could maybe have the same thing with a white background and if possible a transparent one too.

Has the wiki skin change for you guys too? I changed the default skin to the same one that wikipedia uses as I think it looks a bit smarter.

Mark's just sent through 3 more:
Have just uploaded the transparent version to the wiki to test it out...

I changed the Wiki skin in my preferences a little while ago to the default as I thought it looked better.

I quite like the logo as it is now (transparent)! If it were on a black background it could stick out a bit. Although the black to white version looks pretty cool.

Out of curiosity; Is there any way to have the Wiki's name as a kind of header when displaying every page?

Sweet! Glad you like :) I think Mark is now also going to take a look at the header... although I think that might take a little longer.

Regarding having the wiki's name at the top of every page... I don't know, I'm sure there must be some way of editing something somewhere to do it but I don't recall having come across anything like that as yet.

Guys I think the logo looks spot on. The Wiki page looks just great.

Mark makes it look all too easy but deserves a huge thanks for his efforts!

Mark's been hard at work working his magic (for which we're very grateful) and had come up with a few choices for out forum header. Here are the choices:
puzzle place 14.jpg

puzzle place 15.jpg
puzzle place 15.jpg (57.46 KiB) Viewed 12556 times

puzzle place 16.jpg (67.2 KiB) Viewed 12556 times
puzzle place 17.jpg
puzzle place 17.jpg (81.86 KiB) Viewed 12556 times
(15 and 16 seem to be the current favourites)

I'd be quite happy with any of the first three (14/15/16), and out of those 3 I prefer the look of 15. I think 17 looks a little bit busy for my liking.

Either way they all look awesome! A huge thanks to Mark for all of his help! :D

I have put #15 up as the header so you can see what it looks like in place :)
