puzzles with unknown name?

Post by flawr » July 11th, 2012, 5:21 pm

hey everyone,
today, I thought i should finally start to upload images of my puzzles and create their pages. BUT what should I do if i do not know the name of the puzzle? I noticed that I do not know any name for most of my puzzles - I don't even know wheater they do have a name at all! What did you do / or what do you recommand me to do in that situation?
thx

If you can share some pictures of the puzzles here in this topic, we can try to help you identify them :)

That's probably the best idea. Upload a lower res image to the thread and we'll identify as many as we can.

ok, you want it that way=P
here those wirepuzzles:
http://asdf.bplaced.net/xml/index.php?p ... &what=wire
the first one is definitely called "handcuffs"
the last two are also pretty clear, but perhaps there are other names for them. the double-w-puzzle is also known as http://www.puzzle-place.com/wiki/Cast_Devil
I hope i'll find soon time to upload some more, or perhaps I'm gonna do it the lazy way with a "group"-photo=)
thanks for any hints of the names.

Hello,
Some of your puzzles are from Eureka : http://www.eureka-puzzle.eu/eureka/inde ... e-Puzzles/

I've got the same problem as you, especially with Hachette puzzles. I took the nicest ones and used the french names from Hachette, like with the Model H, an awful name for a basic design, or the Anneau Encordé, which is just the french for "en-roped ring".
I didn't find it worth taking pictures of all the others.

For some designs, the webpage of Chantal helped me find references for many common puzzles, like the Pagoda, for which 12 references are listed in the wiki.
