Hi,
I found this puzzle among the countless old ones made by Maurice Vigouroux. Does someone know who designed it and what is its name ?
The six pieces are all different and are structured exactly as the Scrambled Scorpius ones (same number, same pairing, same vertexes, same repartition) except that it would be a Scorpius with rotated axes. Thus the hollow part inside is not a rhombic dodecahedron, but a stellated octahedron.

Re: Help identifying a rhomboedric puzzle
I've no answer to the questions alas, but just wanted to say: WOW, what a stunning looking puzzle!
Re: Help identifying a rhomboedric puzzle
After doing a bunch of researching I unfortunately couldn't find that exact puzzle. A lot of signs are pointing to Stewart Coffin as the designer. He has many that are very close to that but I could not find the exact one.
Any chance you could upload a few more photos from different angles? It can be hard to tell the exact shape when only seeing it in two dimensions. Cool looking puzzle by the way!

Unfortunately I don't know for sure, but just from looking at the pieces it's hard to imagine anyone other than Stewart Coffin being the designer. He made so many unpublished variations on his designs that it could easily be of them, but we'll need someone with a better history of Stewart's work to be certain.

Hi,
Here are pictures taken from different angles :
Meanwhile, Maurice tried to find where the design comes from. He didn't find the diagrams that he used to make the puzzle, but he thinks that it must be something that was designed by Jacques Frossard.

Thanks for posting more pictures! That's really a nice looking design. The extra pictures gave me a lot of new ideas to search around for, but unfortunately I just cannot find any information on that design. I tried. A lot!
Please update us if you ever find out.

Hi,
I eventually found the info, thanks to Alain Zalmanski, who has the same one in his collection.
The puzzle is called Rose, and was designed by Oskar van Deventer.

Thanks for the info!
Normally I see photos of Oskar's puzzles showing some bright plastic parts. Really neat to see one of his designs in wood.
