Yeah! I'm looking forward to getting the tweezers out and having a go at this.
I've been tempted by Allan Boardman's puzzles in the past but it's always concerned me that sharp tweezers might damage the wooden pieces - the larger brass pieces here should make it good fun

I'll be joining you in this challenge! Can't wait for it to arrive. I really love mini puzzles! :D

I don't suppose anyone asked for it to come disassembled did they?

Not yet :)
By the way, it makes me think that I should ask Maurice for the Burrtools file. I only have the file for the normal size version of "Le 18 pièces", and I noticed that the miniatures, both in ebony and brass, had a voxel removed from one piece and attached to the next.
I have always reassembled them with the other version as an example to follow, adapting myself to the modified pieces.

I wouldn't try to assemble the miniature version without the solution. I already tried with a standard size one that had colour hints plus light-exposed sides hints, and, though they are not needed to keep the solution unique, it was already hard enough with all these extra infos at hand.

I'm sure once dis-assembled, making the burr tools file will be fairly straight forward.

Looking forward to it arriving :)

That was my plan too.

Making the Burrtools file will seem like a walk in the park compared with the actual assembly of the puzzle anyway.

Well it's arrived and it is a thing of beauty. First move seems pretty obvious as the piece slides easily by tilting. Didn't have time to have a serious play last night, but hopefully over the weekend.

Hi !
Maurice sent me pictures of his new record. The same miniature puzzle, but with a voxel of 0.75 mm instead of 1 mm !

It took him days to assemble it.
And believe me, there is no automatic machine involved. In fact, Maurice has built a special mini-table saw for these puzzles. Brass is cut just the same way as wood.

Given the huge amount of work involved, I don't think that these ones will be available for sale.

Wow! That really is tiny! Do I see that the ends of the sticks are bevelled too?
