One of the puzzle (sub-) categories in Jerry Slocums classification is "trick knives", another one is "trick matchboxes"
Both are part of the category "take apart puzzles"
Do you know an example of a trick knife puzzle?
Also, I was wondering...
Would Peter Hajek's matchbox puzzle classify as "trick matchbox", or as "secret opening box"?
Is there a distinct difference between a trick matchbox and a trick opening box, or does an opening box change category when you put matches it it?

Re: Trick knives & matchboxes ?
Peter Hajek actually has quite the collection of trick knives, they really are quite interesting.
Usually the trick is in finding how to expose the blade from the handle, but some also have a tricky method when it comes to putting the blade away again. Quite similar to some of the trick pens that Wil Strijbos has shown us in the past.

Louis,
I think you are right matchbox puzzles are essentially puzzle boxes with matches in them.
Originally the matchboxes were known as Vesta Cases (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vesta_case).
A search on "puzzle Vesta" or "trick vesta" turns up numerous examples.
