Box 46 Plate 1457 Lock 1246
Marmot Man and I probably hacked the lock the same way. Wil was okay with.
Question: I wonder how many puzzlers (%) have also went through some lock picking phase?
I'll start a new thread for that so not to go off topic...

Box number 58, plate number 2458, code 3457.....
Re: Wil's Angel Box - Lock/Plate Codes
I did that too and told Wil about it. In the end I couldn't pick this lock though, might have to do with the quality of my tools, which I had to improvize.Reg9 wrote:Box 46 Plate 1457 Lock 1246

Re: Wil's Angel Box - Lock/Plate Codes
I have Box #42, Lock Code 2368, Plate Code 3458.
My Angel has a wooden heart and doesn't speak English.
When spoken to in Italian she knows nothing of Angels.
But my box must be the best as it is number 42 which as you all should know is "The Answer".

Re: Wil's Angel Box - Lock/Plate Codes
Hi guys my box is #37, the lock has code 2348 and the digital plate says 1467.
I am italian and I actually had a long conversation with the girl on the other side of the phone.
If you google the phone number you can find who she is...

Quiet... possibly a bit too quiet.

Hi ! Same faces, different place, cool.
Angel Box # 55
Plate # 1356
Lock combo 8341
Someone asked about duplication. I might be incorrect, but I think these locks have only 70 distinct combinations. You'll notice that there's only one combo that starts with the number 5. With 100 boxes planned there has to be a lot of duplication.
There's a very similar lock with 4 digit codes and 10 buttons. I'm glad he didn't use those.
Apparently BarnDoor has a plate that matches my lock, but I don't see anyone that matches the plate I have.
In any case, I'm very happy with the angel box. It has a nice set of challenges and surprises without being impossibly difficult, well done Will.

Re: Wil's Angel Box - Lock/Plate Codes
Just to clarify, guys, I didn't "pick the lock" in the sense of using any sort of external tools. That was clearly prohibited by the instructions and I followed that to the letter; including not using the lock or lock plate when solving the remainder of the puzzle. I imagine Wil would have been quite annoyed if I had used any sort of lock picking tools.
My method was more a case of observing/sensing subtle changes in the lock while it was manipulated (hands only). And, as I note in my original posting, this may or may not have worked with the locks on the other boxes. I.e. it is possible my lock had looser tolerances than some of the others. But it did allow me to open the lock after a small handful of combinations.
