Intriguing... looks funny...
I wonder if this is the plan of a mechanical puzzle.

The double lines looks like pipes, but the small lines inside them look strange. There are one per angle, but they are not located exactly on the angles.

And the cylindric perspective... is it an artistic effect ? A cyclic maze ?

No more info before november ?

Regarding the info before November: maybe; it depends (on the time I can spend to it and external factors)

And yes, you see some elements correctly.

Louis may not answer this, and you may not interrogate Louis :)

It looks like a cylindrical maze that uses sliding pieces to allow the maze to adapt! If that's the case then I like it!

Am I right? :)

Louis will take the MazeRoll with him this weekend when he visits James in the U.K.

Yes this puzzle is truly a-maze-ing, and I don't often say that.
I wonder if/why a routefinding puzzle like this has not been made before. today we may find out if James has anything similar in his huge collection, I hope he doesn't.
Also looking forward to feedback from others who try out the prototype today.

Beautiful !

It looks like a twisty puzzle with a maze on it.

What I don't get is the steps inside the grooves. If they are there to restrict the movement of the marble, then it can't go anywhere.
Maybe there is another part that we don't see on the pictures. Maybe what we see is just like the inside of a Revomaze, and there is an external part that makes use of these small steps.

May I proudly present, the (prototypes of):

MazeBall, MazeCone and MazeRoll

First shown to the international puzzle world during the 'Eindhoven meeting' on 28. November.

And I think this picture will answer Pio2001's question:

(the internal holes are only to make printing less expensive. Those are no maze paths)

The designs of the MazeRoll, MazeCone and MazeBall (this is the order I've created those) are currently being registered. After this, I'll release the final versions at Shapeways. I expect this to be by the end of January 2013.
(although 13-02-2013 would also be a funny date, I'll not unneccessarily delay the release)

Excellent designs Splinter! Very very nice! I'm especially drawn to the cone for some reason, perhaps because I've never seen a conical maze before.
