Re: Hexsticks, plans? angles?

so now a year later I finally managed to finish my own version of the hectix revisited. Now for checking all the spacings and cuts I desperately tried to solve it in the last few days but made almost no progress. I found one assembly but it is invalid. So has anyone a solution or can anyone give me ...

Re: wood for making burr puzzles

You are right, there are nicer kinds of wood to look at. I am sorry for my bad translation (In my language there is a certain word for that and it seems I cannot translate so literally=) By 'bad behaivour' I mean that it expands/contracts much more (and gets cracks quicker) than many other woods whe...

wood for making burr puzzles

Hello puzzlers and/or woodworkers Up to now I made all my burrs of beech (as I mentioned, because it is the cheapest and most available hard wood I can get here.) Now I heard that this is rather a troublesome kind of wood to work with. Can anyone recommend a rather 'good behaving' wood for making th...

Re: Hexsticks, plans? angles?

Thanks for the hint that there is another "version" of that puzzle! But since I do not want to glue pieces together (due to the lack of being able working that acurately) the only (?) puzzles that comes into consideration are the already mentioned Hextics and Hectix Revisited. What are your experien...

Hexsticks vs Hectix Revisited

After building a "mockup" with triangular sticks (just for analyzing the structure and to have something to 'hold' in ones hand) I now finally made some hexagonal sticks (18mm diameter) that will eventually turn into a puzzle. Now I figured out that there are two know puzzles that pretty look the sa...

Hexsticks, plans? angles?

I decided to make a copy of the Hexstic Puzzle but the cuts seem to be in very odd angles. Does anyone know where to get building plans for that puzzle or does anyone know the exact angles/measurements for making this puzzle?
I just tried to figure them out by myself but failed...

Re: Newcomer to Burrs

welcome to the forum! I totally agree with you, puzzles are some of the nicest gifts on the world=) @IBM: I also noticed that the site has been offline since january, and I wrote them a letter (with Alard's help) and asked them if they could make it available again, but only received a standard resp...
