Re: Lange Wapper 51, The Devil's Pet 3

Muff [...]Might be possible to learn the solution entierely. Yes ! I kept the Muff disassembled for one week, scrambled the pieces, and then I could reassemble it all by myself !... (I recall that I have studied its solution a lot before this. At the beginning, I was unable to disassemble it at all...

Lange Wapper 51, The Devil's Pet 3

Hello, I am lucky to have two of the next puzzles that Maurice Vigouroux is going to produce : the Lange Wapper 51 and the Devil's Pet 3. They are both designed by Alfons Eyckmans. http://3141592.pio2001.online.fr/pictures/casse-tete/20140227-LW51/IMG_5324.jpg The Lange Wapper 51 is a traditional 18...

Icosahedron 92

I recently posted about some Vinco puzzles that I had ordered in late 2013. I kept the best one for the end : the Icosahedron 92. http://3141592.pio2001.online.fr/pictures/casse-tete/20140201-Vinco/Icosahedron92.jpg This puzzle has been available for some time with beautiful colours. But I had to wa...

Vinco - Xcruci8, Shameful-, Noname.

Another post about my recent acquisitions from Vinco. This time, the puzzles have nothing in common. In december of 2013, Vinco published his first new realisations since one year. Among beautiful and great puzzles, there were some less expensive ones that looked fun to play with. I talked about the...

Erhan's Fake 3x3x3 and Vinco's Cube Plus

I review these two puzzles together because, though their structure is different, they feel very similar. http://3141592.pio2001.online.fr/pictures/casse-tete/20140201-Vinco/Erhanp.jpg I found the design of Erhan's Fake 3x3x3 Cube browsing Ishino's website, looking for interesting puzzles. I added i...

[Vinco] Kiss & Bi-cycle

These two puzzles were part of my last order from Vinco . I had read very good reviews about the Bi-cycle, and the Kiss looks quite nice and complements well my Icosahedron 92. Both are inexpensive, but what eventually conviced me to buy the Kiss was the fact that this copy was made of dark plum, on...

Re: (Nearly) the smallest burr in the world

Hi Aaron, The original design is very difficult to assemble. Though it has only one assembly, it is very difficult to find. It is possible to assemble some pieces in many different ways, but every time, the last ones don't fit. I managed to solve mine because it was an old one and the external sides...

Re: The smallest burr in the world

I didn't know Alan Boardman !
I see that he already made smaller burrs indeed. John Rausch lists an Altekruse 12 that is 5/16 inches. Since the pieces of the Altekruse 12 are 8 voxels long, it means that the voxel is 1 mm, while Maurice's is 1.5 mm.

(Nearly) the smallest burr in the world

Hello, I'm going to review a new realisation by Maurice Vigouroux. It is a new copy of the "18 pièces", a level one burr with no internal void, and 18 different pieces, that Maurice designed some years ago. http://3141592.pio2001.online.fr/pictures/casse-tete/20140103-Smallest/Le18piecessmallest01.j...

Re: wood for making burr puzzles

Hi, I didn't know that beech was troublesome to work with, but I am not a woodworker... For burr puzzles, the woods to avoid are woods that are both heavy and hard : ebony, bloodwood, ipe. They don't forgive any approximation, but in the same time, dilate and contract easily. On top of that, they ar...
