Name of this classic burr cube?

Hello Puzzlers, I recently found myself again wondering about this "classics" among the burr puzzles, that usually comes in the shape of a cube, sphere or barrel. Is there any more or less accepted name? http://kubiyagames.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/thumbnail/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/...

Re: mechanical puzzles on reddit

Well it was a long time at about 200 readers, but recently the subreddit got linked somewhere popular, which caused a lot more people to join, so I think most of them aren't active puzzlers, but perhaps some of them will get inspired=) Reddit is a really cool place for things that have an active com...

mechanical puzzles on reddit

Hello everyone, a while ago I started a "subreddit" for mechanical puzzles on reddit.com: /r/mechanicalpuzzles My goal was just connecting with other puzzler and perhaps drawing the attention of a more general audience to the puzzle community. So recently this subreddit got quite a bunch of new read...

Update

I finally made a new entry on my little website for this puzzle=) [click the image to get there] I am now thinking about adding some finish, and wanted to do it with linseed oil. But I am worried that the wood might expand which would 'destroy' the puzzle, any experiences on that? http://asdf.bplace...

Re: Looking for a 18 piece burr design

Thank you Pio for your suggestions, I will definitely have a look into those files! But for now it is too late, I already started with the Tipperary a few days ago, but perhaps the next puzzle=) But I have to admit, it is soo much work, especially since I tried to improve the accuracy... I already m...

Re: Looking for a 18 piece burr design

Oh thats nice, speaking to the original designer=) I honestly only worked with 6-piece burrs (and some odd ones) before so I do not really know much about 18 piece burrs. Out of these three designs I think I like the two of yours best, as they have more different shaped pieces. The pieces of Jiminy ...

Looking for a 18 piece burr design

Hello again, I want to make a traditional 18 piece burr puzzle but I am struggling to find a design I like: I want to have one with an one unique solution (that does not depend on colouring) and I am looking for a higher level one. The one I like most so far (just by description) is the Tipperary by...

LiveCubes

Not sure if it fits here: I am considering buying a set of livecubes for 'hands on' designing new designs or trying existing ones. Does anyone have experience with those? Is there something particular to look out for? Do you perfer 1.5 or 2cm cubes?
Happy puzzling!

Re: Hexsticks, plans? angles?

Oh thank you very much, this helps alot, just today I thought that it could be possible to arrange a set of pieces this way - I'm gonna try it in the evening.
